Counting down the top 10 ways to grow your followers and build an audience on Pinyadda, the first of a two-part series:
10. Jump into discussions from your All People feed
This one is the most apparent: visit the All People feed on your home landing page to see all the articles being pinned in the Pinyadda community. Articles at the top of the feed are most recently pinned by someone, so you can always jump in on a discussion that piques your interests. The person who last pinned the article is likely still logged into Pinyadda and will be more apt to engage with you around an article and follow you on the spot.
9. Spruce up your profile
Upload a picture and fill in the “What I’m into” field so that when someone in the community visits your profile they get a sense of who you are and what they can expect by following you.
8. Mention someone in a pin
Directly pinning an article to someone you follow that they’d be interested in is a great way to gain followers. Many times if you mention someone directly in a pin they will follow up and mention some of their followers on the pin, which is an open door for you to follow and engage with them, too.
7. Add value to your pins
If you’re looking to build your followers on Pinyadda, pinning lots of articles without commenting on them isn’t always the best strategy. Instead, try adding value to some of the best articles you read by sharing your thoughts, prompting a question, summarizing core points, sharing a quote, or including a link to another article that relates and adds value to the discussion.
6. Create a core base of followers by leveraging the contacts center
The contacts center in your settings makes it effortless to build a core base of followers. By connecting with your Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Gmail accounts, you can easily invite friends, family and colleagues to join you in the Pinyadda community. Not only will you enjoy your Pinyadda experience more since you already know them, as they invite their friends and colleagues you’ll be more likely to connect with and gain their followers, too.
Another great way to invite someone to join you on Pinyadda is to email them an article from Pinyadda and say you thought they’d be interested in it or interested in joining the conversation around it. To do this, simply type their email address in the mentions field, hit enter, add your message, and click pin it (click here for a quick how to).
Tip: Another way to create a base of followers is to simply bring Pinyadda into the physical world and mention it to people you think would enjoy and find it valuable. It’s how most people hear about Pinyadda anyway since sharing, afterall, is caring!
Stay tuned next week for Part II of the series!
